Moong Dal Khichdi is a very basic and healthy food. Quick and easy to make this moong dal khichdi is nutritious too. This is my style of preparing moong dal khichdi and I love it very much. Khichdi is all time favorite in many Indian homes. Moong Dal Khichdi should be made in many Gujarati houses at least once in a week. This is a very easy recipe which can be done in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes along with the quick side dish. At my home khichdi was made with splite moong dal and rice. Moong Dal is sure to soothe you and make you feel better when you are off course, especially if you are down with a fever or stomach ache. Moong Dal Khichdi should be made for children at least once in a week. It can be made with the combination of almost every daal. I am sure you will love this Recipe. - 1 cup Splite Green Gram (Chilkewali Moong Dal)
- 1 ½ cup Rice (Chawal)
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
- 2 Red Mirchi (Lal Mirchi)
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder (Haldi powder)
- Salt to taste (Namak)
- 1½ tbsp Ghee
Firstly, wash and soked Moong Dal and Rice for 10 to 15 minutes in water. Drain the water and keep aside. Heat ghee in pressure cooker over medium high heat, add Cumin seeds and asafetida. When the seeds start to crack, add Red mirchi, Turmeric powder, Salt, Rice, Splite gram (Moong Dal) and mix well. Add water and stir well. Cover the cooker with lid. Cook for 1 to 2 whistle on the low medium heat. Remove the flame. Wait till steam has stopped before opening the cooker. So prepare your Moongdal Khichdi serve with Raita, curd or pickle.
