Vada Pav | Mumbai Vada Pav Recipe | Roadside Snack

Vada Pav is very popular food. Vada Pav an Indian version of Burger must be one of the most loved street foods. While Vada Pav is popular as a roadside snack, we had ours for lunch one Sunday.  The Vada Pav is a popular snack across Mumbai and Maharashtra. Here is a simple recipe for the famous Vada Pav. Vada pav eat hot and eat with garlic chutney. This is a spicy food. To make irresistibly spicy and tasty vada pav, dry garlic chutney is must have ingredients. I was surprised to find it popular even in Gujarat. I have adapted this vada pav recipe from a small book which I recently purchased. The vada is made in potato, other spice feeling and deep fried in gram flour better. A good generous portion with large batata vadas, soft buns and dry garlic chutney, what a treat! t create you can in as a breakfast, It is a spicy, and the flavor is very nice. Ingredients:-

For The Vada Filling:-

  • 6 to 7 Boiled Potatoes
  • ½ tbsp Garam Masala Powder
  • ½ tbsp Green Chili Paste (Hari Mirch Paste)
  • ½ tbsp Garlic Paste (Lahsun Paste)
  • ½ tsp Cumin Powder (Jeera Powder)
  • ½ tsp Coriander Powder (Dhania Powder)
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi Powder)
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves (Hara Dhania)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice (Nimbu Ka Ras)
  • Pinch of Asafetida (Hing)
  • Salt to taste (Namak)
  • 1 tbsp Oil (Tel)

For The Batter:-

  • 1½ cups Gram Flour (Besan)
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi Powder)
  • 1 tbsp Green Chili Paste (Hari Mirch Paste)
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Paste (Lahsun Paste)
  • Soda Bicarbonate
  • Salt to taste
  • Water

Other Ingredients:-

  • Oil For Frying
  • Dry Garlic Chutney
  • Pav

Method:-

To Make The Vada Filling:-

Peel and mash the boiled Potatoes. Heat the oil in pan, add the Mustard seeds. When crackle the seeds add the asafetida. Now put in Green Chilli paste, Garlic paste and sauté for some times. Add Garam masala, Turmeric powder, Cumin powder, Coriander powder and stir well. Add Coriander leaves, Lemon juice and mix well. Remove the flame. And cool the potato mixture. Divide the mixture into 8 to 9 equal portions, into round shape.

To Make The Batter:-

Place the Gram Flour (Besan) in a bowl. Add Turmeric Powder, Green Chili Paste, Garlic Paste, Salt and Soda Bicarbonate and mix well. Add sufficient water and whip to a smooth and thik batter. Heat oil in kadai.  Now prepare the potato mixture vadas dipped in the gram flour batter and deep fry in oil until golden and crisp on the outside. Transfer to a tissue paper and keep a side. Same ways prepare all Vadas.

How To Proceed:-

Take a one Pav. Slit each pav; spread some dry garlic chutney inside. Place one vada in each pav and press lightly. Serve immediately.
